Part 2 Connection ~ Digital Connection and Disconnection

Vision Pillars Series For the first part of 2026, we will be focusing on the three foundational pillars that shape Hope United Methodist Church's identity and calling: Inclusion, Connection, and Creation. These aren't just aspirational words on a page—they're the DNA of who we are as a community and how we live out Christ's love in the world. Each pillar invites us deeper into the transformative work God is doing in and through us.

We close out our six-week Connection series this Sunday with a question that feels more urgent than ever: What does authentic connection look like in a digital age?

Technology has given us Zoom church, group texts, and the ability to see a Grandchild’s face from across the country. It’s also given us scrolling instead of listening, likes instead of presence, and the strange loneliness of being constantly “connected” but rarely known.

This week we’ll sit with both sides of that tension together — and we’ll have a special treat: our new Digital Communications Coordinator, Rev. Steven Martin, will deliver the message via video, which feels like exactly the right way to talk about this topic.

We’ll also have a whole-group conversation: “When has technology helped you stay connected? When has it gotten in the way?” — and we especially want to hear from those joining us on Zoom. Your experience of being with us across the miles is part of the story we’re telling.

Come ready to reflect, share, and celebrate six weeks of learning what it means to be genuinely woven together.
